Despite being near the entrance to the Cajon Pass, it’s actual location is clearly off the beaten path. I parked at the intersection of Cajon Boulevard and Keenbrook Road. Keenbrook Road is dirt and goes to Ruddell in an indirect route. The quickest way there is to cut across the sandy plain. Along the way, I crossed 4 railroad tracks before finding the dirt road leading to Ruddell Hill. I figured out how to summit from there without violating private property restrictions.

After taking a few summit photos, I followed the dirt road that bent to the east. I next crossed the railroad tracks, the creek, and the dry sandy landscape to get back to Cajon Boulevard (Route 66). Once there, I closed out the loop by walking the old Route 66 roadbed back to my parked car.
