"Went in for a rematch in the desert with my first peak being 6000 ft after staying in 5000 from May 18 of last year. Started at the big sign where the Coxey Truck Trail and Bowen Ranch Road split. First was round, and fittingly enough, I went around the mountain instead of going the direct route towards it just for the sweet extra mileage. Along the way, I came across a dog who was going to attack me, but I kept my eye on him and eventually, he lost interest, there were even some wild horses. As I made it to round, the climb up was intimidating with the cliffs towering over me as well with the insane sandy ascent and descent. Making my way towards Luna, the winds suddenly grew bigger as I was making the path. As Luna was summited, I was greeted with cold fierce winds that i couldn't stay in one spot. Off to Rattlesnake, the hype was at an all time high for my first 6000 peak. Losing the path here and there as well as many false summits, my celebration was off the charts. Alas though the winds cursed me again and i hid by the boulder where the wind wasn't at me. "Peak 5 of 5 on the day and 10 on the weekend. Was ready to be done for the day and it was getting late in the afternoon, so I pretty much ran all the way from Luna to Round. The peak has a nice (round?) summit area with good views all around. " — klotito • Apr 1, 2018
