"Our trip began on hwy 36E headed east towards Mineral. Before you get to mineral take a left on A-17 it heads north over to hwy 44 just west of Lassen National Park. A-17 is a gravel road nice when there is now snow. Head down the road to digger creek small creek with trailhead just north of the bridge no signs. This is the trailhead to heart lake. Trail follows digger creek to the east up hill. Follow trail to heart lake roughly 3 miles. From heart lake you can see Brokeoff mountain to the east and left of that is Rocky Peak. We spent the night at heart lake at set out after breakfast. No trail from here so we just started towards brokeoff. About 4 hours later we were between brokeoff and Rocky peak. Large sugar pines and small underbrush less than a foot. From there we headed north towards Rocky Peak. To make it to the summit we had to wade thru small brush about 4ft. The summit was rocky, smaller rocks 2-3ft with some small brush. While we were there a mouse or rat with big round ears ran out and barked at us. We headed down towards the valley, west.
