"Sizzler weekend with lots of smoke Saturday afternoon in the northern Rockies taking away from the normally gorgeous views. Got an early start so as to avoid the heat but still didn't manage to reach the summit till 3:00 in the afternoon. Relentless grind uphill through forest to the base of the mountain though much of it would be classified as simply hiking. From the base there were a couple of poochy points to the summit and then basically a ridge walk the rest of the way. Nasty drop-off into the valley between Roche and Colin Ranges. Not a good place to have a dizzy spell. A worthwhile scramble if your looking for something new in the Jasper area. Known primarily to the locals the route through forest has been well trod over the years and most of the dead wood is cleared from the trails making it a much less intense hike then a few years ago when the trail up was covered in deadwood from an old forest fire" — Mountainman • Jul 7, 2012
"First ever scramble. Scrambled up Roche Bonhomme with my brother while visiting from Ontario. Thought I was going to roll down the mountain and die if I slipped on the scree - not the terrain I was used to being from Ontario! Thanks to the local who pointed us in the right direction near the top! " — lizimhof • Aug 29, 2009
