"Starting out at the small car park just north of Top Tor with the intention of making my way to the Buckland Beacon via the Rippon Rifle Range I was initially met with near static mist and drizzle with little to no wind and visibility down below 50m. Still, over the course of the 14.2km route i took in several tors and rocks as well as the disused rifle range and the Ten Commandments Stones at Buckland Beacon as the sun broke through, before the return journey back to the car via Blackslade ford and the various tors in close proximity on Blackslade Down. "Feb 11 Family Walk: I've been mean to this tor; I haven't been in months and for a tor I'd visit monthly It was great to revisit for the 7th time! The weather started off sunny and clouded in slightly upon reaching the summit. Once reached we noticed a cloud coming our way, fast and immediately went into shelter mode :) Extremely fast winds and heavy snow. The views disappeared and we were getting covered. We had to take advantage of this and made snowballs and took many photos... 10 mins later, the cloud has moved on and we were left with outstanding views of snowy tors. Excellent landscape. We spent a little longer, taking in what we had just experienced and, with the wind in our face, headed back to the car. A marvellous stroll, with unexpected Weather - Well that's Dartmoor for you :-D" — torbagger • Feb 11, 2018
