"You can easily climb the Daubenhorn from the top go the Gemmi Pass via the normal route which is a T3 hike involving a small glacier crossing and a short scramble at the top. However by far the most exciting and rewarding route is via the Via Ferrata or the Daubenhorn Klettersteig (in German). It is a very difficult Klettersteig and demands endurance as well as experience and of course proper Via Ferrata equipment. You can reach the start from the top of the Gemmi by descending a bit or you can walk up from Leukerbad. It is well marked. Allow 8 hours for the whole route including the descent down the normal route of the Daubenhorn. Watch the weather carefully as well. We had great weather and took the whole day over it with lots of photo stops and a picnic on the top. We took the Gemmi lift and walked down to the traverse out under the face. It was spectacular the whole way and in September not too busy. The first section leads up to the top of the Swiss flag which you can see from far below in Leukerbad. This is a good picnic and rest spot and from here the proper vertical via ferrata climbing starts. There is an opt out route here which leads back down to the valley as well ..." — chrispatient • Sep 15, 2018
"Started with my guide Michal Sekelsky at 4 in the morning from the Hörnli hutte. Tired after no sleep in the hut. Around 30 people in total started to climb. Reached Solvay hut within 2- 2,5 hours during the sunrise, and put on the crampons at the start of the fixed ropes. Used no axe after the fixed ropes near the summit. Cloudy weather but on the way down the sky cleared up a bit. Drank 2 liters of water and 1,5 l Coke! and had a bar and a sandwich at Solvay hut on the way down. It took me 4,5 hours up but around 6 hours down. Exposure on the ridge and tired knees is one explanation. The climbing up was very fun and varied. This summit is a great achievment for me. Fantastic feeling at the top! " — niklasbennwik • Jul 18, 2017
"Started the half traverse of Breithorn from the klein Matterhorn cable car at 8.15 and reached the peak at 11.15 and came back to the cable car at 12.15. At the ridge poor visibility and wind speed up to 70 kmh. Climbed with a guide and Takayuki Tamaki from Osaka. Good day! " — niklasbennwik • Jul 16, 2017
"Started the half traverse of Breithorn at 8.15, reached the west summit at 11.15 and came back to the cable car at 12.15. Went with a guide and Tamayuki Tamaki from Osaka. Strong winds around 70 kmh and poor visibility. Great mountain! " — niklasbennwik • Jul 16, 2017
"Sunny, but very cold day. A pretty big amount of fresh snow, sometimes knee high, but often not enough to fill the holes between the underlying stones, so we had to walk very carefully.. " — FelinaFoto • Nov 8, 2016
