Parked on Lake Kaniere road and walked the forestry road as far as the Blue Bottle Creek ford. (approx 4km) From there I headed up the obvious ridge on the TL of Blue Bottle Creek to the top of Reef Knob. The lower slopes were clothed in tall post logging regrowth native bush and the higher slopes were clad in unlogged rain forest. There were a lot of good rimu trees with some being up to around 1.75m diameter in size among the unlogged forest. On the descent I saw a red deer hind. (That was the only wild animal seen whilst walking)
