"Hiked up Raymond Peak via the standard route with my beautiful 6 month pregnant wife and some friends. Then I continued solo to The Sinister. I felt like it was class 4. It was on loose volcanic junk so the whole thing was kind of messed up. The Sinister should be an Ogul peak though. I find it unlikely that Pete was unaware of it. Is it because the name is unofficial? It’s taller than nearby listed Reynolds Peak. I beat the others back to the car, so I walked a mile to the lake for a swim, and then back. The additional two miles are not included.
Wildflowers included forget-me-nots, scarlet gilia, Wyoming paintbrush, mariposa lily and penstemon. Wildlife included several grouse, a deer on class 3, and several smaller birds with white markings that I couldn’t identify." — seancasserly • Jul 10, 2022
"Started at ~8:45am and back ~8:00pm for ~15.7 miles. Started on Ebbetts Pass on Highway 4 instead of formal parking lot and cross county from Pennsylvania Creek after hiking ~5.9 miles on PCT. Arrived Raymond Peak ~2:30pm after wrongly hiked to one rock ~2:00pm. " — keung • Jul 3, 2015
"Joined Cathie and Doug Barrows for a backpacking trip with summit of Mt. Raymond. What I remember most is trying to find the route up and how Doug wanted to keep walking (after we had already walked halfway around the mountain) and Cathie and I vetoed him and said, "No Doug, that there is the way up." We all made it to the summit. " — 40in40 • Aug 7, 2010
