Started the day before from Prägraten am Großvenediger at about 10 am. Took the "long route" to the Bonn-Matreier Hütte, which is climb to the Bodenalm, and, instead of turning ninety degrees to the left until you reach the Niljochhütte and then uphill, keep climbing by the Timmel stream and then turn left. Lots of ups and downs (some of them really sharp), but totally worth it. Spent the night at the Bonn-Matreier Hut and set for the summit at about 7:30 AM. No need to rush, as it is just one hour ahead. THe first half an hour is a steep climb. Then you zig-zag between rocks. Be careful, as it is pretty exposed. We reached the summit at about 8:30/8:45. Downhill was a little scary, as there was heavy fog. Then, I separated from my partners, as I had broke my glasses and I desperately needed to go to Matrei in order to get them mended, so I got the "direct downhill" towards Obermauern, which is a very steep slope, getting easier on the last hour and a half.
