"By doctor's orders, I was out to the trail again today. All of Rattlesnake was under cloud cover / fog this morning, so no views for this guy today. That said, the forested approach was great (I probably liked it more than usual because it had been so long since I could hike). There were lots of deer tracks and I found **many** signs of Bear... one sign still smelled! Speaking of Black Bear, I unnecessarily bushwhacked a decent part of this trip and happened upon an area where Black Bears are clearly debarking the trees for the cambium (I saw 9 trees with the bottoms stripped of bark). One tree had been debarked almost as high as I am tall. Whoa. Another tree was lightly debarked just next to the ground... a cub? It's not manly of me, but I'll say it: cute.
As for the "peak", it was remarkably not noteworthy (right along the old logging road that is used to get there). On the other hand, it was the last of the Issaquah Alps list for me, so on this day it scores well for me... though, i don't expect to go back. :)" — herdingcats • Jun 4, 2014

"We checked out the Northwest Peak and the West Peak of Rattlesnake Mountain. The Northwest Peak was reached via old logging roads that branched off the main Rattlesnake Mountain Trail and then headed down into the valley between the main ridge and the Northwest Peak before curving around the south end of the peak and heading upward. The West Peak was reached via a logging road that heads upward from the Grand Prospect Viewpoint on the Rattlesnake Mountain Trail and soon connects with some service roads at several radio towers on the summit." — Al-Rashid • Nov 16, 2012
