"From Forest Road 4S06, just north of the Vista Grande Fire Station, I drove in about a tenth of a mile to a wide parking area. Since I wasn't a specially marked off road vehicle, my hike started there. The hike to Ranger Peak from there is short and easy, but Ranger Peak wasn't my lone target, it was Angelus Hill. To get to it, I needed to hike 6.6 Miles along the forest road. I went out to Angelus Hill first. It sits at the end of the long road. At roads end, it is a simple x-country climb. Great views toward San Jacinto (the city of) and Diamond Valley Lake.
On the way back, it seemed more like a legitimate climb of Ranger Peak. Most of the daily elevation gain occurred there. Finally, at the access road, I was able to divert over to Ranger Peak to complete the daily duet. " — MikeTeeples • Mar 12, 2022
"Accessed Forest Road 4S06 just north of the fire station on Highway 243. About 100 yards in, there is a wide parking area. I parked there and walked the rest of the way to the peak. This is an easy forest road walk which goes toward radio towers before approaching the foundations of a fire lookout on the true summit. Commanding views of the surrounding landscape spreads for many miles below." — MikeTeeples • Jan 17, 2021
