"The first time I came to Rainbow Point was in the fall - really, was it almost 6 years ago now?! - and earlier in the day. This time it was in the late afternoon and the sun was already well on its way to sinking down in the west. Bryce Canyon in the snow is magical, and we were lucky enough to visit a day after a decent snowfall had hit. The road to Rainbow Point was closed at 12 noon but opened by 3 PM, and I'm so glad we got to do this drive. It's amusing how the skies were perfectly clear and it was such a gorgeous day with 100+ mile sight distance, but the one cloud that appeared in the sky ALSO decided to visit Rainbow/Yovimpa points. The sun shining through the cloud gave it an ethereal (and eerie) effect, with the quietness of the snow blanketing the ground and the trees. Gorgeous. Just, gorgeous. "I drove into Bryce and bagged these by mostly driving right up to them. Kind of felt like cheating, but views were spectacular. Natural Bridge Overlook is the most underrated and the views from Sunset Point vs Inspiration Point were somehow night and day. You must get every angle because the canyon changes based on your perspective. I also hiked the Navajo Loop that day, which was amazing; Wall Street did not disappoint. " — mchikes • Oct 19, 2020
"What a great day for a hike! Arrived at the Podunk Guard Station, and after a quick claiming of bunks, and a glance at the map we were off. We drove back one mile to a remote campsite road, that would lead us to the Bryce Canyon boundary. From here we followed a new service road (which showed on our map as a trail), that switched backed eleven times (or so I am told) up the hill. Our map told us this was the trail to Pink Cliffs (maybe it was or maybe it once was). Either way we took this road to the top, where we hit the Park Road to Rainbow Point at mile marker #17. This was our first glimpse of Bryce Canyon. From here we decided we might as well hike up the road another mile and get Rainbow point behind us. The winds were gusting between 35 and 50 mph. Coming from a very low altitude state, I had been warned that the thinner air may be a problem, it wasn't. I think I was meant to hike at this altitude. The view from Rainbow Point was breath taking. I didn't plan on Rainbow Point to be my first summit in the park, but I'll take it! :)" — bwright • May 5, 2014
"After spending four days in Zion we headed over to Bryce for a few days. We did the scenic drive out to Rainbow Point then hit the other view points on the way back after doing a figure-eight hike in the canyon." — Nimblefoot • Sep 3, 2013
"I've been to most of the points in Bryce a few times. Not sure of exact dates, but it was in the early & mid 90s. I'll just log the ones I remember distinctly, though I'm sure I've been to them all. These are just drive-ups with short walks." — StudioHoodoo • Jul 7, 1990
