An unusual trip up Powell Butte. All the old ways up are now closed due to the massive construction boom. It’s all private property all the sudden? Found a power line road that fed into an old mining pit. After .75 miles up the gravel mining road there is a downhill spur that you can follow that leads to a very obvious cow trail up the canyon. Continue on that trail until it becomes more like a quad trail and eventually finds its way to a spring. After the spring stay as high as you can as you pass through a unique pine forest and son find yourself on the summit plateau. You have to pass through three cow gates and have pretty good navigation to get up from the west side, but it’s doable.
