"Brother Dean joined me today for a last minute hike. Trail to the summit was part snow part wet bare ground. Bare booted it to the summit in 1 hour 7 mins. On this blue sky day the views from various look outs were great. Many other hikers were enjoying the same. 4.47 miles and 1505 e.g. in 2hours r/t. Great morning hike close to home!" — garyogden • Apr 7, 2024

"Great hike, first Adirondack winter hike.
Great way to spend an afternoon.
The switchbacks and rock scramble to the top was difficult but worth it.
Our one year old French Bull dog made it. To the summit.
Well worth the effort.

"Overcast day and warm, especially for Winter. No need for snow shoes, crampons were all we needed. Found the trail well marked and the climb up was well carved out. Had great views from the summit overlook and we enjoyed the nature trail on the way out." — hbotc • Dec 31, 2022

"A 2.8 mile out & back from Potash Rd. Following the blue marked trail, the first section is fairly easy. The last
half mile or so is a little more difficult as the trail switchbacks to avoid a cliff band. The views from the overlook are great, but the actual summit is wooded with no views.

"Solo. Second peak of the day. Easy to find this lovely trailhead. No register to sign into as it appears to begin on private land. A light dusting of crunchy snow over lots of downed leaves on the flat leading in on the flat gravel-y area, then just downed leaves (sometimes worse than ice!) on the switchbacky boulder-strewn upper climb of this little mountain. I passed two hikers on their way out when I was about halfway in. This trail is well-marked with tan discs, followed by lots and lots of surveyor tape- the trail is easy to follow even if you aren’t looking up the whole time. The view was really nice considering how close to home I was, a pleasant surprise! Bare booted the entire way on this one. " — kellieirene • Jan 7, 2019

"Sunny November day - great for a hike! A little icy in spots, the trail is still more of a herd path once off the Preserve Lands - just ribbons tied to trees to mark where the trail will be built. Beautiful open ledges just before the summit. Views to Prospect Mountain in Lake George & lots of others. 3 stream crossings - easily rock-hopped, but they would have been dicey if the water was higher or if it was icy." — PJSelmer • Nov 12, 2018

"Enjoyed a beautiful climb of this little summit with a great group of ladies. A nice base of snow made this varied trail a nice easy climb with a few scrambles here and there. Great views from the ledge just below the summit. Perfect little afternoon hike of ~1.3 miles and only 1100 feet of gain." — deb-and-rob • Dec 16, 2017

"Looked at this local hill for years wondering if there was any kind of trail up it. I contacted the local State Park & they said
yes there was a trail but you had to follow the power line to get to the trail. Well, I followed the power line & did find a poorly
marked trail which led to the top. Nice views of the surrounding hills & waterways." — billsussdorff • Jan 8, 2015
