Quite an adventurous climb from Peak 1918. The trail elevates about 1000 feet in a mile from Peak 1918, with some Class 2 and Class 3 climbing over boulders. Some loose footing on some of the trail, where I grabbed at tree roots to help keep my balance. The climbing of the West Ridge Route was the toughest of any of the hikes I have done in the Santa Monica Mountains so far. After visiting the summit and going on to Big Dome, I didn't want to go down the same way, so I took the East Ridge Route, which completed a loop back to the Old Boney Trail junction. This was much easier than going back the way I came up.
