"The city of Cartersville, Georgia has done a nice job maintaining the trails on Pine Mountain. We parked at the West Loop, hiked up the north side of the loop on the Hiking Poles Trail and down the south side on the Boot Trail. Gina stopped on the West Pass trail while I continued to the peak. The 180-degree view from the peak was hazy today. I climbed atop three boulders, each a candidate for the highest point. Maps at the trailheads (see photos from my previous attempt) show overlooks and Fatman Squeeze, but the overlooks only show the same open forest as the rest of the trails, and the Fatman Squeeze is only a knee-high rock a few feet from a rock wall, so I missed a photo opportunity expecting something tighter. The mountain laurel grove near the base of the Boot Trail must be beautiful when they blossom, probably late spring to early summer. GPS/GPX recording is very noisy, but according to the trailhead signs, I estimate I hiked about 2.5 miles with an elevation gain of about 600 feet." — davidensley • Sep 7, 2022
"Scouting trail heads for future hike. Parking lot on west side of Pine Mountain is right off I-75 Cartersville Main Street exit and larger than shadier lot on east side a longer drive from next exit north." — davidensley • Aug 31, 2022
