"Hiked solo today. Left the Inman Pond trailhead at 9 am with moderate rain and temps in the 40s. My plan was to follow this trail for roughly a mile and turn west and bushwack to the summit. I got cliffed out once prior to making the summit at 10:30. Views were limited due to clouds and rain. I used OnX app for navigation on the return. Returned to car at 1:04 pm.

"The path breaks away from the main trail to Inman Pond and follows yellow marks on trees. It climbs to a grassy ridge line with several viewpoints for about the next mile. The main marked section ends and the more closed in heardpath continues toward the true summit till eventually turning into a bushwhack to the top. The summit is wooded with one viewpoint nearby. The area has a nice wide open forest which made it pretty easy to navigate, but there are a lot of rock ledges throughout. I looked for the old cabin and path to the plane crash site with no luck. Managed to catch a great sunset on all the views on the way back down." — country7man • Aug 1, 2017

"Last attempt(?) The next time we went to the preserve and Frank was convinced we'd summited at last. Eventually I learned from peakery that the summit is in the woods. I learned from other sources that there is a war between DEC and an individual who blazes a trail to the summit, only to have it covered over by DEC. If s/he gets caught they're in trouble, but I wish the state would let the blazes stay long enough for Frank and me to finally locate that elusive top. If the Northeast 4000 Footers had been like Pilot Knob, we'd have never achieved that goal!" — barbaratraver • Sep 3, 2007
