"A 3 day hike in the Cordillera Central region of the Dominican Republic to the highest point in the Carribbean! The park entrance fee was only 100 peso (£1.50). On day 2 Nicole, Carlos, Sabina and I reached the summit at 6.10pm in time for a fantastic sunset. The summit was marked by the national flag flying alongside a bust of Juan Pablo Duarte who was a writer who led the resistance against Haitian rule and helped create the Dominican Republic in 1844. After 2 sunny days we descended in heavy rain on the muddy path through the forest." — TrevorKitching • Oct 16, 2007
