"I take advantage of the morning to go to the monastery of Santa Ana in Jumilla and climb the mountain with the same name. The day is spring and some motorhomes are located in the recreational area. I use the botanical trail to climb, which is continuous and quite steep to the top. From here I see the Pico del Maestre and the city of Jumilla in the distance. I don't meet other hikers today, so I watch carefully where I step to avoid any silly falls. From the summit I see snowy peaks in the distance due to Storm Monica. I head a little later to the Maestre peak, which is lower but perhaps rockier and with fewer trees." — franciscobirruezo • Mar 14, 2024
"Elvira and I have gone to Santa Ana in Jumilla. Near the Forestry Post, a trail leads to Pico del Maestre, at the fork there is a path to the left that increases in height.
When arriving at a hill we have climbed the ridge towards North to approach the Peak.
You have to go up and down several times and at the end the trail ends. Two mountain passes are quite complicated, the second is a climb, almost climbing, that takes us to the slopes of Pico del Maestre. We tried to go down another place less exposed but it has been impossible. Returning to our steps we have lowered the complicated step helped by a rope.
This mountain of 826 m is almost an impregnable fortress.
But remember that when everything seems lost there is always a way out, human beings are capable of accomplishing the impossible. A hug." — franciscobirruezo • Sep 29, 2018
