"An adventurous scramble up Picketpost, just short time in beginning and end is actual hiking.😆
Rest all bouldering and rock climbing. Must be a fan! 🧗♀️
Great teamwork up there ladies.
Some compare this to Flatiron I personally think this was easier, just more cliffy, open areas to be careful in.
The mailbox on top contains hike log book, shot bottles alcohol and energy drinks, and some other questionable artifacts.🤣
🔺Interesting fact about name of this mountain:
It comes from an early military camp established at the base of the mountain by a General in 1870. The soldiers nicknamed the mountain “Picket Post” due to its use as a sentinel position to guard their camp from attacks. This military camp eventually grew into the town of Superior." — alexandra-melaniecastellano • Mar 1, 2025
"A fun return to Picketpost Mountain, snow from a couple days before definitely made it quite different and added a tad more difficulty to the climb with some ice here and there." — matty44m • Feb 17, 2023
"My dad, brother, and I started up around 5 am. Once it got steeper, my dad elected to stop and wait for the two of us to finish. We summited around 35 minutes later, spent about 20 minutes enjoying the views, then started back down, taking a slightly different route for part of our descent." — ZachTeich • Jun 1, 2018
"I took Cole, Taylor, and Talon to the summit of Picketpost. I had no knowledge of this hike but was very impressive by the aesthetics of this mountain. It's an absolutely beautiful and very impressive mountain. As we were driving to the trail head and could see the mountain I told the boys that was what we were climbing. Their response was "no way". The hike/scramble was an absolute blast. Great terrain. Fun Scrambling. Beautiful views. A few areas that got the boys adrenaline pumping. Talon was hilarious. During the ascent on the rock sections he was literally crying for his mom. He was scared to death. I instilled some confidence, provided encouragement and coaxed him to the summit. The boys did awesome. Beautiful weather! Definitely will come back to this when I'm down to see mom and dad again." — darinwilson • Nov 23, 2012
