"From the car park to the south east. Looking west, one has a choice of four paths. Taking the most northernly one there is a steady rise through a wood, with a steep drop to your left. About half way a long, one meets a gate and enter the moor proper. It being a wet and misty day there was little in the way of views, but after a series of small rises a cairn of sorts emerges. Got quite cold and bothered - even by a raven in a tree that sounded like a duck." — vygodski • Feb 10, 2026
"From Afon-wen. Took the lane and track up to join the Offa's Dyke Path south over Penycloddiau, Moel Arthur, Moel Dywyll and Moel Fama. Then down via Pt. 464m and Ffrith Mountain to Cilcain. Solo.
Bright autumn sunshine, clouding over in the afternoon, with some rain in last half hour. Cold NE wind.
First personal sighting of a red kite over these hills.

"From Llangwyfan Forest car park, via the Offa's Dyke Path, to the summit. Then continued north down to the bwlch, and back south on the west flank of the hill by the Clwydian Way to the starting point. A fine summer's day with a refreshing north-west breeze. Views long and clear. My retirement party walk with current and retired colleagues, and their partners/family. Buzzed by a low-flying glider as we descended from the summit." — marktrengove2 • Jul 23, 2017
