"Hike from the dock to the peak. Hiked up from northeast harbor north into Acadia National Park to Cedar Swamp Mountain. Trail had very gradual incline and was almost entirely in the woods. Then we went down a technical trail and back up to Sargent Lake where all the non peak enthusiasts went swimming to cool off in the lake, while my dad and I ran up to Penobscot. Then we all went back up to Cedar Swamp and back down to Northeast. " — summit • Aug 7, 2025
"Taking advantage of the peregine nesting season being over, we parked at Jordon Pond House and went up Jordan Cliffs Tr. The stretch near the end was steep and narrow. We then ascended to Penobscot Mtn and spent 20 minutes up there. We then came down the Sargent South Ridge Tr, then down Ampitheather Tr. That felt like it didn't see much use. We then took the mellow Jordan and Asticou Path back to the pond house. Mostly sunny day with great temps. " — newenglandwarrior • Aug 24, 2024
"The summits of both Penobscot and Sargent are magical for different reasons. Penobscot has beautiful views of the Atlantic and pools of water that grows well-known water lilies. Sargent has pink granite and various cairns built to mark the trail. Sargent also has a pond along the trail if you want to cool off. " — CAnn • Aug 6, 2021
"Day 1 of the Acadia trip. A loop hike up Pemetic Mtn, the Bubbles, and Penobscot Mtn. We went up the southern ridge of Pemetic. Some beautiful views there. Then steeply went down to the road. Crossed the road and went up North Bubble first. There was a really nice view near the summit there. Down that Bubble, then up South Bubble. Some excellent views there. Went back to the col, then down to Jordan Pond. Then up Penobscot Mtn for the excellent views there. We then hiked down the southern ridge and made our way to Jordan Pond House. "Noah, Baxter, Marla, and I looked over six Acadia peaks, seeing different (yet pleasant) weather on each one. Bald Peak -> Parkman -> Gilmore -> Sargent -> Penobscot -> Cedar Swamp" — rwthacke • May 30, 2020
"Climbed down the Sargent East Cliffs which had me pretty gassed. It was a long slog up to this one, which was the 5th peak of the day. Another great open summit with a great view of the islands just off the coast. A short walk to a nice tarn that my dog took a swim in. " — mikewilliamsjr • Jun 2, 2017
"Started out cool and cloudy but the weather opened up for a decent view by the time we reached the summit. Great open views almost the whole way up the south side of the mountain on this trail. The Spring Trail is pretty steep so be prepared if you choose that option." — Gregrog • Sep 19, 2015
"What a great day for a hike. Six peak day. We started the morning form Rt 198 and hiked Bald Peak, Parkman Mt, Gilmore Peak, Sargent Mt, Penobscot Mt, and Cedar Swamp Mt. 9.4 miles on my GPS It was a great day." — bwright • Apr 21, 2013
