"Getting the wife out on a little leg stretcher hike. Parked across from Tahoe Meadows and took the Incline Peak trail up to Incline Peak taking in the great views. Up to the TRT to head over to the use path up to Rose Knob Peak where we encountered strong winds so it was a quick touch and go. Once back down to the TRT I headed back to the jct of the Gray Lake trail to bop up to the top of Peak 9773 while my wife took her time heading back to the car. With the steep climb up and a slightly faster descent she got too far ahead of me. Despite plenty of speed hiking and some downhill trail running I didn’t catch up until reaching the car. We foolishly forgot the second set of keys but fortunately she only had to wait a few minutes for my arrival. Nice short romp on a suddenly cool morning with plenty of breeze, layers and wind jackets went on. "A triple of Incline, Rose Knob peak and Peak 9773 from rt 431. It was nice to find the use-path on Incline then again on Rose Knob Peak. On my way back I bopped up the top of 9773 since it was right there behind the sign indicating Gray’s Lake trail leaving the TRT. Peak 9773 is getting some traffic as a use path is starting to form on the west side of the peak. The butterflies were out on Rose Knob Peak but not the other two, though not as much as last week. It’s become the talk of the trail as in “ why is this happening?” or “ is this normal?”. Most locals have not seen such a high number in past years. " — Nimblefoot • Jul 27, 2026
