This hill, located just east of the Alhambra, surprised my son and me. Just to the north lies the Darro River valley, which seems frozen in time with its mysterious air. We began our hike in the afternoon, climbing the steep slope through the Alhambra woods. Then we turned left to continue towards the Silla del Moro viewpoint. We were very impressed by the view of the Andalusian fortress and the Albaicín neighborhood. After reaching the summit, a very narrow path led us into a valley with surprisingly abundant vegetation, including holm oaks, oaks, rockroses, thyme, and broom. Down below to the left, we could see the Sacromonte Abbey and hear the lowing of cows. A few wild mountain goats were climbing the steep slope.
After several miles, the path descended sharply towards the Darro River. In that area, night and darkness had already fallen. A profound silence enveloped everything; even the dogs on some properties stopped barking. We passed by the abbey gate and a little later through the Sacromonte neighborhood, where some caves that had hosted flamenco shows were illuminated.
We arrived at the Paseo de Los Tristes with our feet already aching after walking about eight miles.
