I had seen this peak last year when I camped out in Wallace Canyon. It seemed very prominent & was quite pretty. I found no logs or trip reports anywhere for it. I've been waiting ever since to get up it. I drove out the Wheeler Pass Road & took the right split up toward Clark Canyon. I parked at a camp spot right off the road to the NNW of the peak. Seemed to be a hunting camp. I hiked back an old road for a very short distance which ended at another hunting camp. From there I started heading toward the peak. This area was very brushy & thick with low pines. There is a good bit of bushwhacking to get through here. I had intended to go up a ridge to the north, but I couldn't see out of the trees & wound up ascending a ridge to the NNW of the summit. It had big cliffs & I was a bit worried when it finally cleared out & I could see where I was headed! When I got to the cliffs, I thought I might go to the left/north into a gully, but that was very rough with huge formations & cliffs. Going right didn't look much better! The route finding here was very tricky. I wound around to the right of the cliff & found a narrow, loose chute up to the top of the cliffs. Once up there, I discovered more cliffs! I continued wending my way around to the right & again found another chute. This one had harder climbing, but was at least solid. At the top of that chute, I was finally on top of the cliffs. From there I followed the very steep & talus covered ridge line all the way to the summit. The views were awesome! I saw no signs that anyone had ever been there, other than an old surveying board sticking up from the rocks. I descended the ridge I had intended to ascend on the north side of the summit. The entire peak has cliffs & formations all around. This ridge was easier, but still extremely steep & covered in loose talus & scree. There are fossils all over this peak & lots of really huge, old pinyons & junipers. This was a very challenging peak with a little bit of everything. It had bushwhacking, scrambling, very tricky route finding & extremely steep loose terrain, plus gorgeous views. I was really happy to make this one.
