"Hiked up the Piedra Lisa then branched off right to do a ridge traverse (Knife Edge 5.0) on the Shield. Tons of exposure but the rock is great and free of snow due to constant snowmelt. This traverse spit me out near the North Sandia Peak and I postholed south a few miles to descend La Luz back to my car. Wonderful route that I'd recommend to anyone looking for a stiff 4th class adventure. 13mi, 4k elevation gain, 7hr" — MikeERodriguez • Mar 1, 2026
"First time hiking with my niece, Isabella. Stuck to the well forested trail, but she hated me for dragging her along to what I said would be short and easy. The views made up for it and ended up being a pleasant hike." — MikeERodriguez • Aug 6, 2024
"Before descending to the Piedra Lisa Trailhead off Forest Road 333, we summited the highest points of this peak located a short distance to west of the intersection of the Piedra Lisa /Rincon Spur Trails. The elevations of the two (2) highest points of this peak were 8,211 and 8,203. More details on elevation and distance are included under the attempt summary for Piedra Lisa Peak." — rick-brown • Dec 14, 2021
