"The planned semi loop hike began at Buckhorn Campground and lead to Pallet Mountain via the Burkhart Trail. I then had to climb Peak 8180 after descending from Pallett. Before reaching the summit, I found the use trail that follows the ridge toward Goodykoontz. I made sure to summit before continuing on the use trail." — MikeTeeples • Oct 6, 2018
"Peak 8180, I believe is actually closer to 8,160'. I always call it 8160. It was my fourth of 6 peaks this day. I had summitted USGS Mt. Williamson (8,214'), then Sierra Club's Mt. Williamson (Peak 8,244'), and then Peak 8,248', the highest point along the entire Pleasant View Ridge. I then dipped from 8,248 and up to 8,160 along the same use trail. Then, I went cross country down 8160's west face down very loose soil, and picked up a use path that curved to the south over Peak 7560 and Goodykoontz Peak. Long beautiful but tiring day. I saw no other hiker the entire day; it was just me, the birds and lizards, the tall pine and fir trees, and manzanita chaparral!!! Stats below include the round trip mileage and elevation gain for entire hike from Islip Saddle to Goodykoontz Peak and back in reverse." — brianpowell • Jul 1, 2018
