"Another peak teasing me to climb it as I hike Tunnel Creek road and the Flume trails. Jumped off the Incline Flume Connector trail just passed the Tunnel creek crossing. Foolishly headed straight up toward the summit which was challenging do to the pine needles and sliding soil on top of being steep. It was like climbing a sand dune only with huge rocks to navigate around and through. A much better approach would have been to head the drainage up to the col then go for the summit.
The remaining snow pack made it easier to scramble up and onto the summit rocks. On my descent I headed for the col which was nice stroll on the snow pack then I was back to slip slidey steep descent down to the jct of the Flume Connector and Flume trail. Back to the house in an hour speeding past all the strolling hikers, most of them checking out Monkey Rock. Super spring day." — Nimblefoot • Mar 14, 2026
