I stopped in the Mineral Range on the way home from a trip to CO to visit my family. I camped a night & climbed this the next morning. I drove in from Beaver over Soldier Pass. That road is well maintained, though there were recent repairs to some obvious wash-outs. The drive is also quite pretty, aside from a power line through the canyon. Unfortunately, the area also has lots of cows. This range is not very well known & quite beautiful, with huge granite formations. I've seen very few people here on both my visits. Since I had limited time, I chose this numbered bump because it is one of few labeled on maps & is one of the only non-technical "peaks" in the area! This is a rock climber's paradise. I camped at one of numerous primitive spots off the Rock Corral road & hiked cross country from the west. I did a loop of sorts through the amazing formations. There was a flowing stream, blooming rabbitbrush & I saw a gopher snake. The terrain was steep & loose in places. The granite seems to disintegrate easily & some spots were very slippery! There's also quite a bit of bushwacking.
