I returned on this morning after a couple of days hiking in the Scodie Mountains and southernmost Sierra across Walker Pass to round off my vacation on a couple of tiny hikes in one of my favorite haunts: the San Gabriels. I wanted to make a loop out of this hike, so I started up Lightning Ridge Nature Trail at Inspiration Point Vista Area at Angeles Crest Hwy. The Lightning Ridge Nature Trail branches off to the right from the Pacific Crest Trail at the TH and then rejoins the Pacific Crest Trail up on the ridge. When I took the nature trail, there is so much destruction from winter storms that it made some of the nature trail nearly impassible, and there was still considerable amounts of snow as well, but I managed to push and squeeze through it, rejoined the PCT on the ridge and about 40' ahead, took the small use trail that ascends to the peak which has a wonderful view towards the East Fork San Gabriel River canyon and ocean, and to the southern High Sierra, Telescope Peak and maybe even Mt. Charleston near Vegas! I rejoined the PCT and followed it back to the Inspiration Point Vista Area. Right after, I crossed the hwy and went up to Peak 7547 via a small dirt road leading to the tower-studded top, a very short hike as well. Then, I drove to Grassy Hollow a very short way west along Angeles Crest to do the easier way to Jackson Flat's summit via PCT, use trail, and back to the car along Jackson Flat Camp's service road.
