"Peak 6338 was a pretty easy peak to reach from Hwy 18 between Big Bear and Lucerne Valley. It is in the Cactus Flats area, and it is a short distance northeast from the junction of Hwy 18 and Smarts Ranch 4x4 road. I did a short cross-country scramble east from the road junction up to Peak 6200 (I logged that one separately here on Peakery), and then I dipped down the backside (northeast slope) of Peak 6200 and met up with a very old, faint jeep track. I followed the track n.e. until it faded out. I then turned n.w., and went up the slope to a lip on the ridge west of the summit plateau. I followed the ridge east until I reached what I believed was the high point near the east end of the plateau, but looked back and found that the rocks on the western end near the lip I first met upon meeting the ridge were higher, so I backtracked to the west end of the plateau and did a short class-2 up the rock and made it to the actual high point!! The views from this perch are insanely awesome!! Silver Peak (6,756'), which I climbed in Jan 2019, looms massive to the north!
