"Started at a different area than everyone else here. Got up in just under an hour. Great views. Fairly easy and straight forward route finding following a wash most of the way. I saw a few random cairns and some animal path along the way. I started here 36.40335, -114.60912" — Popwar • Feb 22, 2026
"The views from this peak are among my favorites. I take a pretty little canyon that starts near the west entrance in Valley of Fire. (I think this route is well worth the $10 entrance fee) From the canyon, I head up a rough ridge with incredible views. After gaining the top, I drop into a wash & follow it for a way, then cut up the summit ridge. There is a large point on the ridge that is not the summit, so don't be fooled when you see it! The final ramp up the summit is steep & loose, then there is a scramble at the top. Someone removed the register. This is a very enjoyable & scenic hike to one of my favorite peaks in the Muddies. Does have a bit of sharp limestone. I forgot my hiking poles, so used an agave stalk as a hiking stick to steady myself on the steep descent. I sat up top for a while & flew my drone a couple of times on the ridge & summit." — StudioHoodoo • Feb 1, 2026
"Chris wanted to try some of the limestone peaks near Valley of Fire. I wasn't really feeling great, but we started up towards Peak 4288 using some beta that I got from another hiker's site. I felt slow, but we made it. Once at the summit, Chris wanted to continue along the ridge for some 'extra credit', but I wasn't feeling it, so we headed back towards the car. I agreed to attempt Thin Peak, since if I didn't feel well, I could just turn back, but I made it. The views were awesome & we both felt like the day wasn't a waste." — Kevin • Dec 8, 2019
