"This was a fantastic day. I went out to Valley of Fire with the intention of trying to find a route up into the Muddies. I wanted to go from the Beehive parking area or better yet, the picnic area. Unfortunately, the picnic area was blocked off & there were fences & signs saying to keep out. I could see lots of Airstreams at the picnic area. Not sure what was going on. So, I went to the Petrified Logs parking area & hiked all the way around Weekapaug Mountain. I went around the east side thinking the fencing & signs might be on the west side. If you look at my gpx, you'll see I took a detour to the west to look at some formations.) Weekapaug is very pretty & the hike around was beautiful, so I did not mind the extra mileage. I headed across a deep wash toward a mountain I wanted to get up, but saw no clear routes. I then headed toward a beautiful looking canyon. That might go to the top, but it was...VERY rough, so I climbed up out of it & found a way to the top. The climb was very beautiful & fun, though I did not want to descend it.
