Our plan for today was to successfully connect the two tallest peak on Oahu: Ka'ala and Kalena. It started out as a great day, and after finding an old trail almost vertical up Peak 2861, we climbed over Kalena where we had amazing views of the North Shore and surrounding mountain peaks. From there we headed up Mt Ka'ala. The trail between Kalena and Ka'ala was overgrown, with couple of small notches to pass, and an interesting rock formation to climb with the aid of ropes. When we got to the Ka'ala bog section, we started following the fence line which actually got us in trouble, and we got lost. Thankfully we had Gaia Topo maps and was able to find a way to the actual board walk pretty quick.
Once we reached Ka'ala, got cloudy and we had no view from the top.
Altogether was great day!
