Started at the Piuma Trailhead parking lot with the plan to climb McAuley and Mesa Peak. When reaching Mc Auley Peak my eyes were drawn to a higher peak further down the trail. So instead of using the spur trail to McAuley Peak, I kept walking to Peak 2127, which was about a mile further. The trail came close to the summit, leaving a short use trail to the high point. This was my turnaround point where I retraced my steps to McAuley Peak. This time I took the spur trail to the top and signed the register. I continued from there back to a trail junction at a picnic table. I took the dirt road trail to the right which quickly led to Mesa Peak. On top is some sort of man made structure. From the summit, I noticed another lower peak with a well defined use trail leading to its summit about a half mile away. I made sure to include it on my outing. From the far edge of the summit of Peak 1800 were great ocean views and views into the canyons and toward well-to-do neighborhoods of Malibu. This was a good ending to a day where I doubled my planned peak bagging output by just walking a few extra miles.
