"Another trip to Wodonga with a route chosen for summits. Drove to Dargo and up the Dargo High Plains Road to park near Peak 1393 m aka VK3/VT-018. Set up the gear and made 6 contacts. Returned to the car and drove around to White Timber VK3/VE-060. Set up the gear and made 5 contacts. packed up and drove around to Basalt Knob VK3/VE-039. Climbed and set up, making 11 contacts. packed up, returned to the vehicle and headed north. Weather was looking very wet at Blue Rag Trig, so decided to rule it out for this trip and headed to Mt Blue Rag VK3/VE-021, where I made 12 contacts before packing up and heading to Wodonga." — peterfreeman • Dec 16, 2020
"A trip to Mount Hotham for a SOTA gathering. Drove to Dargo and north on the Dargo High Plains Road. Parked in the saddle near Peak 1393 m, known in SOTA as VK3/VT-018. After walking up to the summit, I returned to near the car to set up the radio gear and activated, making 13 contacts. I packed up and headed north, taking Ritchie Road to reach White Timber Spur South Track. Drove tot he high point to park. Walked to the summit. Returned to the car and set up nearby, activating VK3/VE-060, making 11 contacts. Packed up and returned to Ritchie Road and drove to Basalt Knob VK3/VE-039. Parked at the edge of the helipad and climbed to the top to set up, making 10 contacts. Packed up and returned to the car and travelled to Basalt North Track to Blue Rag Range Track, which I took to the west to reach Blue Rag Range Trig VK3/VE-015. I parked at the edge of the clearing and walked over to the trig. I set up nearby, making 10 contacts. I packed up and headed east along Blue Rag Range Track to Dargo High Plains Road, then headed north and around to Hotham." — peterfreeman • Feb 1, 2019
"A couple of short detours on a trip to Wodonga.... Travelled to Dargo and then up the Dargo High Plains Road. Stopped at the closest approach of the road to Peak 1393 m and walked to the summit. Walked back to the car and set up the station to activate VK3/VT-018, making 20 contacts. Packed up and drove to Blue Rag Range Track and up to the top of the first hill, then walked into the peak of Mount Blue Rag VK3/VE-021. Set up the radio gear and made 23 contacts. "After a mid-afternoon start, I travelled up to the annual Hotham SOTA Summit. I opted for the drive via Dargo and up the Dargo High Plains Road. Stopped just beyond Whitelaw Raod and walked to the summit of Peak 1393 m VK3/VT-018 Set up the radio gear closer to the road where I had more space. Qualified the summit with 9 contacts. Packed up and returned to the car and drove north to the Great Alpine Road and around to the ski lodge which be our base for the weekend." — peterfreeman • Feb 19, 2016
"A trip to Mount Hotham for a weekend of SOTA fun. Drove towards Dargo, with a detour to Mount Budgee Budgee. Parked the car a little down the hill and walked up to the summit to activate VK3/VT-041, making 6 contacts. I returned to the car and resumed the trip to Dargo, then north on the Dargo High Plains Road. i stopped near Whitelaw Road and walked up to the summit of Peak 1393 m, VK3/VT-018.. I set up and activated the summit, making 17 contacts. I returned to the car and headed up to Hotham heights for the weekend to come." — peterfreeman • May 2, 2014
"A trip from home to Wodonga to visit family. A few peaks this day, some of which were reported separately as I was awaiting approval of new Peaks here. Travelled to Dargo and up the Dargo High Plains Road to stop below Peak1393 m. Walked to summit, then back to teh edge of the road to set up the radio gear. Made 13 contacts from VK3/VT-018. packed up and resumed drive to the north. Travelled to Blue Rag Range Track and walked up the summit of Mt Blue Rag VK3/VE-021, reported previously I think. Returned to car and drove to the small picnic area south of Mount Freezeout. Climbed Mt Freezeout and then headed east on the ridgeline to reach Peak 1646 m VK3/VE-024, where I made 13 contacts. Retraced my access route over Mt Freezeout and back to the car. I then travelled north and up to below Mount Hotham to park, then climbed Hotham for a quick activation of VK3/VE-006 with another 13 contacts before returning to the car. i then headed north to Wodonga." — peterfreeman • Dec 17, 2013
"A multi summit day as an alternate route from home to Wodonga. Travelled to Dargo then up the Dargo High Plains Road and parked beside the road up from the junction with Whitelaw Road. Walked through the scrub to the highest point, then returned to closer to the road to set up the radio station to activate SOTA summit VK3/VT-018. Packed up and returned to the car and continued north. Walked into summit of Mount Blue Rag to activate VK3/VE-021. Travelled out to Blue Rag Range Trig. Walked up the final climb and activated VK3/VE-015. Returned to the car and drove back to Dargo High Plains Road, then north to Great Alpine road. North to Bright and up to Mount Porepunkah VK3/VE-098 for the final activation of the day.
