Friday's rains cleared for a perfect (summer solstice) Saturday. This was my first time in the Buffalo Peaks Wilderness and I was lucky to get the camp spot next to the trailhead. The morning started frosty and cold but warmed up quickly. I had some route finding issues coming up the old abandoned roads, but eventually found my way to the summit of Peak 12,650. From there I continued on to East Buffalo and West Buffalo peaks. I got dehydrated coming up East Buffalo and threw up on the summit. From there it was very slow going and I lost about 4 hours nursing myself back to health along the way.
