I hope there are better routes-- Maybe from the next wash north? This route NEEDS boots with ankle support, as it has a huge amount of blocky scree-talus (I wore approach shoes, which felt like bedroom slippers). There is a subtle fisherman's trail on the south side of the canyon -- I found it on the way back. The 12-mile drive into Carpenter Canyon is rough, and it is tough to meet vehicles going the other direction on the steep hillsides. Peak has just 230' prominence, so it must be easy, right?
