"Pakui East Wall is a NO GO!
Sometimes you have to accept, Yes I made a bad decision!
It started out like a regular run, but It was hot, I was bored so I thought instead I go explore a little bit. Well, I did go…way too far up. After couple dirt climbs, some grassy pull ups, some loose rocky sections, I got stuck under a steep crumbly wall on the way to Olomana 2nd peak, Pakui.
That is when I decided to call couple of friends up to help me out with some ropes from the top. Long story short, after an hour of trying different routes up the wall, finally I made it out safely climbing around the wall and up a gully.
I am thankful for all my friends who was gonna come out to help!" — nandorszotak • Aug 6, 2021
"My plan today was to beat my speed record from trailhead to 1st peak Olomana and to the 3rd peak Ahiki. Mission accomplished: Trailhead to 1st peak 31min and trailhead to 3rd peak 49min" — nandorszotak • Nov 10, 2017
"Had a half day to explore the peaks of Oahu so turned to (the new) peakery for guidance... on the Map page used the Summits filter to find the most climbed peaks on the island. Olomana and the 3 peaks ridge traverse rose to the top. After seeing a photo of the giant shark fin-shaped Ahiki I was in.
Started up the trail at 10am at a determined clip. But as the climb to the first peak steepened, the Hawaii heat kicked my fast pace down a few notches. When I hit the final roped cliff band below the first peak, I took a bad route and got into a semi-intense position that got the adrenaline going.
Upon cresting the summit I was surprised to find... people everywhere: groups doing selfies, music playing from mini speakers in backpacks, and a string of hikers eking their way along a gnarly looking ridge trail leading to peaks 2 and 3. Was amazed that this many people were doing such a difficult hike.
After chugging a Gatorade, headed down and then up to peak 2 (Paku'i). This section went by quickly -- nothing too challenging. But then down the back of peak 2 the intensity dialed up a bit. A series of old ratty ropes provided a sketchy backup to the plentiful hand and footholds le..." — scott • Mar 27, 2017
"On our first day in Hawaii, Crystal took us up to do the Olomana 3 peak hike (Olomana, Paku'i & Ahiki). It was rainy, so it made some of the climbs very sketchy, but nobody died, so that's good!" — Kevin • May 30, 2015
