"From the refuge directly to the north, which is reached by a good asphalt road. The beginning of the path isn't very clear but heading to the mountain one soon begins to see various options. The marked path (red marks with a yellow background) weaves alongside and over a wider, rough track that leads to an abandoned building with an antennae to the south east, from here it rises up the ridge to the south west. The last section is a little steep but it is fairly easy going otherwise. The walk is completely exposed and I caught some sun. Extensive views, particularly of the south of Mount Olympus which, as Homer says, is always covered in cloud. There was quite a bit of snow evident on its upper reaches. Ossa itself was free of snow. On the top is a bell, which I dutifully rang and the sound in the stillness was almost painful. There is also a small chapel set into the rock in which there are various bits of religious paraphenalia, and shelter I guess if one really needed it in the very musty quarters, and a small pillar. Descent same way as ascent, without incident." — vygodski • May 26, 2025
