"Took my daughter looking for fairies as a bit of Halloween daftness (this being a fairy hill in local folklore). It was windy but a fine day. Started from Ingram then crossed East Hill to Fawdon Farm. We then had some bovine trouble. First we had to pass very close to a bull near the public footpath. The next field was a full of cows with new born calves blocking the path and making a lot of noise at our presence in the field. So we had to jump the fence into another field with cows and calves but luckily a bit further away as to not cause us any bother. The farmer was bang out of order for putting both a bull and cows with new born calves in a field with a public footpath - especially on a Sunday. Reached the top with no further problems other than my daughter being scared that Queen Mab was going to kidnap her and replace her with a changeling - lol... they're cute at that age. No sign of the fairies. Descended via the opposite slope through bracken as high as myself in parts to Fawdon burn, crossed the burn and ascended the other side through more high bracken. Eventually found the proper footpath at the top of the steep sides of the burn and easy walk back to the car. " — NorthernWayfarer • Oct 29, 2017
