"Only recommended for the most exhaustive of peak baggers. The approach is a thoroughly trashed 4x4 road littered with Keystone cans, shotgun shells, and burned out TVs.
I parked the car shortly after crossing Kennedy Creek, roughly 3 miles up the road after crossing the Carbon River. I left the car at about 8:45 AM and started walking up the 4x4 trail. I cut upslope at the 3rd switchback to the right, then followed the ridgeline until I could see the summit. At that point I cut across the bowl to the summit. The late start and the sunny day resulted in extremely soft snow for the final stretch. Snowshoes were too clumsy for that angle of slope and I chided myself for not bringing my ice axe for the glissade back down. I got back to the car around 2:00 PM.
The views of Rainier were terrific, but there are much less trashed areas to receive equivalent views without the sounds of gunfire and vehicles (Mount Wow, for instance)." — TynanRammGranberg • Apr 10, 2016
