"Crew; Blake, me and Ally. 3rd of our Grand Slam, we got to the saddle of Eolus and N Eolus around 5pm pretty beat. Girl posse we had leapfrogged thru the day said Eolus proper took them 3 hours and was committing. We gauged vibes in our crew and decided to call it with N. Eolus, saving Eolus for a solo mission. Great way to finish the day, chill short scramble to the top and we had a lot of fun with it. Got back to camp just as sun was setting and packed in all the food!! Chicago Basin is magical.
Weather all day was solid, minimal issues with gear, main issue was a leak in Blake/Ally's tent on night 1 with heavy rain. " — Pulp-fiction • Aug 20, 2026
"Hiked Purgatory Flats approach. Departed base camp in Chicago Basin and began hike of Eolus and North Eolus on July 4 at 4:30am, peaked Eolus at 9:10am, peaked North Eolus at 10:20. Began descent at 10:50, and got back to base camp at 1:35pm. Lots of hail and some lightning during the descent. CO 14er #32." — Globetrotter87 • Jul 4, 2014
"Of course I had to scramble over and tag this summit after reaching the true summit to the south. The views are actually better from North Eolus. The elevation listed here is wrong. North Eolus is only 14,039 and is lower than the true summit of Eolus. " — ChrisMeloche • Oct 12, 2002
