"Bird Spring Range 5 peak Jaunt. Peak 5,140’, Escarpment Peak, Joshua Peak, Cottonwood Peak North & Mount Crypto.16 miles, 3,600’ gain, 6:23hrs. Cool and Windy day. A large area had been destroyed by a recent fire and looked like barren wasteland. Some tall yuccas were scorched ghosts of their former selves. There were scant amounts of wildflowers so I made sure to take photos of what I saw since it was my 1st time all year seeing a variety (or any) of them. I saw a snake too. Long hard day. I named & added Mount Crypto to the Peakery database since it had an old geocache with the name Crypto on it. (It needs a pencil) I’m not sure if this Northern Cottonwood peak is higher than the Southern (Northern) one. My gps shows the Southern one is slightly higher. " — paula.raimondi • Apr 26, 2021
"I traversed from the Historic town of Goodsprings to another Historic Town, Blue Diamond bagging 3 new Peaks along the way. 26.5 one way miles, 3,700’ gain in 7:21 hrs. Bird Springs Peak, Cottonwood Peak and North Cottonwood Peak. It was the most amazing solo running tour of an area I’ve ever experienced. The beauty of the back road area Blew my Mind. Solitude for miles. I ran/scampered Jeep trails, single track, cross country, on the ridge of a giant Bluff, some pavement and the Historic Old Spanish Trail, all the while bagging 3 new peaks. I saw a huge herd of wild horses too. My family met me near the end. Amazing!!! I named this the Wild Horse Spirit fun Run! It lived up to its name." — paula.raimondi • Dec 10, 2017
"Mike & I explored some of the Cottonwood area. We bagged Cottonwood Peak, North Cottonwood Peak, Mount Roses Are Free & The Jingle Bells. There was a lot of rugged off-roading required of the Jeep, but we were rewarded by several bird flyovers and a few wild horses hanging out near Wilson Spring. If only it weren't so damn windy, this day would have been perfect!" — Kevin • Mar 21, 2015
