Did some morning hikes to avoid the high heat for the day. Nony Peak is on the way to the Spring Mountains. Because I would see it every day when passing by, I was determined to get a visit in before the end of the week. Today was a good day for it, since I wanted to do some low key climbing before I really get into it later in the week. From a large dirt parking lot off Highway 157 (Kyle Canyon Road), I picked up a use trail which headed east toward the peak. It dropped down and joined with a dirt road. I then quickly turned right on a dirt bikers trail which lead to a point at a saddle below the peak. The dirt bike trail continued going around the peak to the east side, where I finally abandoned the trail and made a direct climb to the summit. It was a quick climb, which made me think that I should have left the trail sooner. Either way, it is a quick peak climb, with good valley views and looks toward the Spring Mountains and into Red Rock Canyon NRA.
