I picked up Ron at 7am in Canmore and we departed from the Lake O'Hara parking lot at 8:10 A.M. The Parks bus was waiting for people to get organized before heading into O'Hara and they asked if we were walking in. I said "no, we're going up Narao." We followed Vern's track up 2km along the road to the turn-off to Ross Lake on the left, then followed that for about 20 minutes before it was time to bushwhack through a bunch of miserable little alders... This was the least fun part and it was annoying, but honestly, way better than other bushwhacks I've done this year LOL (Minos and Haffner Creek for Stanley Peak come to mind). We angled to the ramp, then to the end of the ridge and followed it, occasionally backtracking to make sure we were doing the route properly. There was some decent hands-on and there was a point where Ron opted to stop and told me to go ahead, so I did. I summitted what was listed as Narao Peak on the GPS track, but I did note that Vern had gone to the next high point. Not sure which is the actual named peak, but I'm not going back for a log time, so I'm considering it good :). I took some summit panos, ate a quick snack, then when I got back to Ron had lunch. We went back the way we came, then once we got to the chimney area, descended directly there, weaving around to the right of the cliff bands. It worked, but we were glad to get onto the grassy stuff. The bushwhack down seemed easier and much quicker, and soon we were at the trail, where I ran out of water. Then the 2km walk on the road, where we met up with the same Parks staff prepping the last O'Hara bus of the day, who asked us how it went.
