"This route, modified Mummy Head to Toe, has seven registers to sign on it. The one that is not listed is Mummy Vista, just before Forehead. The Nostril route to the Nose is fun, challenging and time consuming. It can add about an hour to the overall time. You will gain nearly 1250 feet in the last 1/2 mile up to the the Nose. A lot of this route is for advanced scramblers only. You will be climbing walls and traversing a knife-edge. There are sections where you will be hundreds of feet up on the knife edge and it will be less than 2 feet wide....and crumbly. Yes, it will give you the adrenaline rush that you may be looking for. Be prepared for a 9-11 hour day to safely cover the 9.25 miles and 4700 feet of elevation gain. Over 50% of the gain is on the 1.5 mile approach to the Nose. This route is highly modified from the "standard" route that is known as Mummy Head to Toe. " — Heartattackbruce • Jul 29, 2023

"Finally felt like the snow has melted enough for the mummy traverse . I was 95% right , coming down mummy you can slide like 2-300 ft down through snow . I can’t imagine that snow is going anywhere anytime soon either , banks were still 6+ ft high I only brought 1L of water and was able to fill it up a couple times there are some real nice water sources along the way. Spooky corner is tame, coming down the forehead was the only real place I needed a couple minutes to figure out what to do , everything else was straightforward enough . More annoying steep sidehilling than I thought after the chin going to the tummy, but overall it was a good route . I rode my bike back to make it a loop. Also I’m no anatomy expert but why is the nose before the forehead ? " — joshortman • Jul 3, 2023

"Mummy Head Loop! We rolled the dice on the weather and came up lucky. Some models were predicting storms to start as early as 12pm. I had some slower folk on this group hike so we had a nice long day with lots of laughter sweat & tears. Amazing sense of accomplishment. " — DudeAlmighty • Jul 28, 2022

"8.12.2020~Mummy traverse CCW, this time faster, with vigor and laser focus. Solo. 9 miles, 5,000’ gain in 6:42hrs total. 2nd time in one week but this time using the harder class 3/4 route. It’s considered by most to be the hardest route in the Spring Mtns. It’s relentless climbing and scrambling at 11,000’ and extremely taxing with intense navigation. Some parts are terrifying so that drains me especially since I’m doing it alone and unroped. Most go in groups and with guides who prep ropes/belays, encourage one another along the way and follow the leader without having to route find. That’s a good and safe way but I feel more accomplished doing it on my own. ‘Twas hotter with no wind. I drank 2 liters of water and only consumed one Luna bar, one bottle of Gatorade and one veggie burrito. I felt strong all day. I’m more proud of today than my 100 Charleston summits. Closing this chapter and moving on to the next epic projects. Weeeeeee!!!! https://youtu.be/TxbbD0OPRDg

"Mummy 5 Peak traverse Head to Toe, SOLO, Nose, Forehead, Chin, Tummy and Toe. 9 miles, 6,000’ gain, 8:11 hrs of Scampering, Scrambling and Climbing class 2-4 rock. Sure it’s safer, more comforting, more enjoyable with a friend, a club, a group, a spouse.....I don’t want it that way. I don’t want the comfort of another human to sooth my fears or assist me when I conquer big mountains and fill my day with lovely conversation. I want to be independent and self reliant. I want my own dark thoughts that battle my will, courage and drive to keep going forward. That’s what gives me satisfaction. Not sure many women (or people) have done this alone but I know I’m one of the very select few women that have. That gives me great pride. I only consumed one piece of crumb cake, a slice of pizza, bottle of Gatorade and 2.5 liters of water.

"We did the Mummy Head to Toe hike, which is a traverse over Mummy's Nose, Mummy's Forehead, Mummy's Chin, Mummy Mountain (Mummy's Tummy) and Mummy's Toe. There were a couple of short class 4 sections and some exposure during a traverse from the Forehead to Chin, but everyone did well. This was my first time trying the full traverse - I had been to each of these summits multiple times, but not all in the same day. When all was said & done, we did around 13 miles with about 5200 feet of gain, according to my Garmin GPSr. This would have been more fun if there wasn't so much damn smoke in the air!" — Kevin • Aug 11, 2018

"Up the trail from Lee Canyon to the saddle between the nose and the forehead. Climbed up to the forehead, traversed over to the chin via the ridge, back to the saddle, up to the nose, and back down to Lee Canyon." — jasonj • Jul 26, 2015

"Led a hiking group up today. We took an east ridge variation up towards Mummy's Nose, then descended to the saddle & took the class 4 route to Mummy's Forehead. From there, we traversed the steep & exposed knife-edge ridge to Mummy's Chin. This was a bit difficult this time due to the strong winds. We descended the North Fork of Deer Creek & walked the road back to our vehicles. Great day with some strong hikers." — Kevin • Sep 21, 2013

"Took the standard route up to Mummy's Chin, then traversed the very narrow & loose ridge across to Mummy's Forehead. There was thunder & we were IN the storm clouds for a bit, but luckily, avoided most of the rain." — Kevin • Jul 15, 2012
