"I drove a long way from my home in LA to get here at 5AM with my friends in the VHC. Then we walked up the road to the trailhead and saw a gateway sign. Then we went on the trail to the real trailhead. Then we went on the trail for about aa few minutes till we got to Charli's New Trail/ Bastard Ridge. Then we asended the Charli's New Trail till we got to a cool bench. Then we merged onto the steeper Bastard Ridge. There were steep parts, then level parts until Jones Peak. The only thing unusual was a red pole which I guess was a blaZe. False peak after false peak, we made it to Jones. The summit had a sign, a unusual bench, and a rock heart. Jones Peak's views were clear and better than Hasting's Then we descended to Jones Peak Saddle. The trail just got more overgrown after there. Then the trail was fully overgrown by the part where we reached the trail's largest meadow. It was like this until the summit of Mt Hastings. The summit of Hastings had some decent views, clouded by the dust storms in LA. Then the trail after Hastings was in a better shape. Then after a small peak we descended to the most risky ascent on the trail. This part had a grade of about 75-97% and surprisingly, ..." — lcnguyen • Jan 10, 2022
"Started off at the Mount Wilson entrance gate and descended the old Mt Wilson Toll Road. As is usually the case, there is a locked gate leading to Mt Harvard. I expected that, so I activated my backup plan. Instead, I would descend to the Harvard Ridge firebreak below Mount Yale. I headed up the fire break (which is rather faint at times), and topped out on Mount Yale. Some bushwhacking was necessary to stay on portions of the use trail leading to a saddle between Mount Yale and Mount Harvard. The trail closely parallels Mount Wilson Toll Road along the way, but is not visible from the road. The steepest part of the climb comes when climbing the rest of the way up Mount Harvard. On the summit, there are a few buildings and tall towers. Once finishing the visit, I descended the peak road and made an easy sidestep of the locked gate, which didn't seem so intimidating from the inside. I then closed the semi-loop with a return back up Mount Wilson Toll Road. LPC #67/86." — MikeTeeples • Jun 5, 2021
"1 mile w/1,050' gain (and 300' loss) from LPC' Hastings Peak((4,000') w/Patrick O. Descent to Bailey Cyn Park was 5.2 miles w/4,050' loss (+475' gain). 3rd peak of 3-peak traverse Jones-Hastings-Yale." — BradStemm • Feb 27, 2013
"Peak 5/5. Missed it on the way up Wilson but tagged it on the way out. The use trail and summit are completely overgrown, not the most fun summit in the world. If you head up try not to get on the ridgeline until just before the summit, there were thorns everywhere. The use trail turnoff is very easy to miss as well." — Christopher • Apr 6, 2012
