"Busiest I’ve ever seen a NH hike! 100s of cars, 1000s of ppl, 10,000s of dogs. People have really discovered the Great Outdoors. Great reunion hike with Q + fam up a baby peak since only had a bit of time today. We did try (maybe successfully?) to find the true summit but it turned into a bushwhack and we ran out of steam. Oh well, good enough. Great views from up here as always. " — scott • Jul 23, 2022
"I had never been up Mt. Willard although Keith had been in the winter so we went up here for a tune-up hike. It was enough of a workout to get us in better condition for the summer season. Really nice west and south views from the summit outlook. I explored the actual summit in the trees while he relaxed." — SteveM_StickMan • Jun 11, 2022
"Great trip up and down, trail had plenty of people but no too crowded. The hazy wildfire sky and the clouds kept some people away , but plenty of space at the top. The trail is pretty straight forward but you can tell on a clear day that the views are impressive, stares right at Mt Webster. " — puddlepirate • Jul 26, 2021
"Solo. Started out around 17:30. The first part of the trail is easy going with some roots and rocks- after maybe a quarter mile or so it gets very rocky with some interesting cylindrical water breaks. It’s clear this trail is well loved (2-3 people could walk side by side up the entirety of it.) but it has had work done to it in the form of stone steps and blowdowns being cleared. I passed 2 pairs of hikers and one solo, all on their way out. About .75mi of the trail is a steady and easy uphill, then for the last portion of the hike it is a flat wide dirt path with some occasional bedrock. The view was absolutely stunning at the top and I had it all to myself. I had planned on staying for sunset but as time passed I noticed things were just getting more cloudy and more grey, so I abandoned that idea and headed back down. It got progressively more windy on the descent which had me a bit nervous about trees giving way, the gusts must’ve hit around 35-40mph. I flipped my headlamp on for the last ten minutes or so of the hike and had no issues finding my way. A nice start to this years New Hampshire “adventurecation.”" — kellieirene • Sep 14, 2020
"No access to the Crawford station parking lot. There were cars parking on Route 302. I parked at the AMC Highland Center which was quite packed at 8:30 a.m. Chose to wear snowshoes but trail was very well packed. Of the 20 or so people I saw on the trail, maybe 5 or 6 had snowshoes, the rest has light traction with only two bear booters. Centennial Pool was frozen and completely snow covered. At the summit, the views were crystal clear with absolutely no wind, in fact the temperatures has climbed to the positive single digits when I was there. " — rjnick • Feb 15, 2020
"First solo hike. Perfect weather, beautiful terrain, amazing views. Plenty of parking, some restrooms, and an AMC shop at the base. Only 3.2 miles round trip and no real obstacles along the way. Crawford Notch is beautiful from any of the surrounding peaks, but this hike was particularly fun for me. I read a book a while back, about the history of the railroad that runs through that area, the Station house that used to stand on Mt. Willard, and the family and workers that lived there and maintained the track. Nice to also see the Scenic Train loading near the trailhead on my way out. Up in an hour and down in 45 min, but a nice long lunch break at the summit, where I randomly met a fellow hiker from my hometown who knows my sister... Crazy." — gooner • Sep 3, 2019
"Rainy overcast day, just arrived in the White Mountains, this made a good warm up hike especially after the 5 hour drive. The summit was completely fogged in but the hike is easy and the trail well maintained." — hbotc • Aug 12, 2018
"Was a very cold -2 when we started hike, but clear and sunny. Quick hike up to lookout and enjoyed view for few minutes. Hike down was quicker and glad to get dogs back to car, one was having cold paw issues." — blackwolf_03278 • Mar 18, 2018
"Début de la montée vers 13h30. Température de rêve. Un peu de mouches noires, surtout au sommet. Vue splendide. Quelques caches dans le parcours. Une autre superbe randonnée! I love it!!!" — mlaniel • Jun 10, 2017
"A beautiful day for hike. The trail was a bit muddy in spot from the snow melt still draining out and the rains from the previous day. The view on top was fantastic, stretching as far south as you could see, making it a very busy day at the summit." — HikeLikeMike • May 20, 2017
