Parked on Ferncroft Rd. (Ferncroft Trailhead)
--> Went up Blueberry Ledge Trail* - this trail was challenging in that it was steep and fairly grueling. There were some ledges that we had to lift my dog up but I didn't find them as difficult as some of the reviews I read portrayed them - although I do see how they could be scary to some!
There are also some amazing views up the Blueberry Ledge trail both to the south (you can see Lake Winnepesauke as well as many other smaller lakes on a clear day) and to the east (towards Mt. Chocorua and the 3 Sisters)
*We had intended to go up Ferncroft Trail and then take the Tom Wiggins Trail to Blueberry Ledge Trail going up, but we missed the signage indicating where Ferncroft Trail began and we took Blueberry Ledge all the way up. The beginning and end of this hike is a bit weird because you are literally walking through people's yards.
--> Mt. Whiteface Summit - some amazing views here, not 360, but we had a beautiful fall day and the foliage looked amazing!
--> Rollins Trail - nice wooded trail, there are a couple of little outlooks where you have great views.
--> Passaconaway Cutoff (east loop) to Walden Trail - We actually meant to do the Rollins trail all the way up but missed the Rollins trail split on the left. This was pretty steep and rocky in spots and more challenging than taking the Rollins Trail right up the top. Would recommend taking this up and Rollins trail down if you wanted to do a loop up to Passaconaway.
--> Mt. Passaconaway Summit - A fellow hiker we passed put it best when she described Passaconaway's summit as, "the silliest summit [she'd] ever seen." On the way to the summit coming up the Walden trail, there are 2 amazing view points but the summit itself, marked by a little cairn that's easy to miss, is completely wooded. A silly summit indeed, but I love these mossy quiet spots among the trees and preferred to stop for a snack in the shelter of the summit rather than the one of the viewpoint ledges.
